Firstly, I want to say (to avoid wank) that I ship Snily, but not exclusively. I am one of those people who will more often than not ship anyone with anyone and am not partial to having an OTP (though these two would be it if I had to claim one).
Last night I was going through the Snily tag (and getting super emotional). I was reading a post where someone was saying why they ship it and somewhere in that post came up the fact that Severus wanted to become a Death Eater to impress Lily with his power and success as a wizard along with his extensive knowledge of dark arts.
My wonderment is, did he even know her at all? How could he think that, of all things, would impress her? As far as we know, she had no interest whatsoever in dark arts. Also, she’s muggleborn and that makes her one of the main things Death Eaters are against. So… how could he possibly think that becoming a Death Eater could ever impress her?
